Profile:

North Down Community Network (NDCN) addresses hidden need across Bangor and the wider North Down area, where perceptions of affluence often mask significant and complex challenges within local communities.
We work directly with people and groups affected by systemic issues including mental health crisis, cost of living pressures, poverty, educational underachievement, long-term unemployment, and long-term health conditions such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, and diabetes. These challenges are frequently unseen but deeply embedded across communities.
As a grassroots infrastructure support organisation, we strengthen smaller community groups and charities by providing practical support, training, and resources. Through our close relationships with member organisations, we are well placed to identify immediate and emerging needs, including digital and IT upgrades, skills development, and investment in community buildings that will benefit local areas for generations.
Alongside this, we deliver direct programmes in areas of need, including youth engagement with over ten years’ experience supporting confidence, aspiration, educational achievement, and personal development, as well as health and wellbeing programmes offering accessible activities such as yoga, singing, sewing, and mental health support.
NDCN balances immediate response with long-term sustainability, ensuring investment delivers meaningful, place-based impact rooted in real community need.
