Who we are
mdeducational foundation is a charity prioritising student wellbeing by providing fully funded wellbeing support in schools across Northern Ireland, the UK and Ireland.
What we do
Our mission is for all post-16 students to feel supported in every aspect of their wellbeing, aiming for a world in which every student has access to the wellbeing support they need, without delay.
We provide up to three-year salary-funded commitment to placing dedicated wellbeing professionals within post-16 educational settings.
By funding the placement of Wellbeing Leads into post-16 settings, we are putting student wellbeing at the forefront of education – providing much-needed support for their wellbeing needs through education and beyond.
Why we do it
We know there are significant challenges facing the education and wellbeing sectors in the UK, with rates of a probable mental disorder in young people aged 17 to 19 years rising from 1 in 10 in 2017 to 1 in 4 in 2022 (NHS Digital, 2022). Now more than ever, intervention is needed.
How do we do it
By providing salary commitment, our approach is to enable educational settings to kickstart their long-term wellbeing strategies.
Our model is designed to support individual wellbeing needs while prioritising group-based delivery helping to build peer support networks, encourage shared learning, and avoid overlap with existing in-school counselling roles. Our solution is practical, scalable, and proven.
