Profile:

Kilcooley Women’s Centre, established in 1995, has been delivering services for women, children and families dedicated to empowering women and building community development. As a training organisation, it offers diverse programmes aimed at enhancing employability and skills development. Additionally, it operates as a social enterprise providing childcare services, catering to both the needs of working parents and nurturing the development of children in a safe and supportive environment. The centre also prioritises wellbeing, offering resources and support services to promote mental and physical health and emotional wellbeing programmes. Through its social supermarket, it addresses food insecurity by providing affordable groceries and essential items to the community. They operate a community cafe which serves as a hub for social interaction and support, offering a welcoming space for individuals to connect over shared experiences whilst providing training for the hospitality sector, specialising in Barista training.
KWC manages a co-working space in the centre of Bangor, as part of their restoration and repurposing of the 1770 Georgian Old Market House, a labour of love to bring back this amazing building into community and civic use.
Overall, Kilcooley Women’s Centre serves as a vital resource in the community, integrating training, childcare, wellbeing, social enterprise, and community engagement to empower women and enhance the overall quality of life for everyone.
