Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful (KNIB) delivers social value through environmental education, biodiversity protection, waste reduction, climate action and community engagement across Northern Ireland. We work with schools, councils, businesses and communities to improve environmental outcomes, support health and wellbeing, and encourage long-term behaviour change. KNIB leads delivers the Eco-Schools programme in Northern Ireland, with over 50% of schools achieving Green Flag status in 2025, reaching approximately 174,000 children. Our education and training programmes build environmental literacy and climate awareness among teachers, pupils and communities. Since 2020, we have delivered climate awareness training to more than 9,500 people, alongside leadership programmes such as 30 Under 30 Climate Change Makers. Our social value offering includes certified teacher training, curriculum-aligned pupil workshops, waste and litter education, biodiversity and marine programmes, and whole-school approaches such as the Climate Ready Classroom Award. We also deliver community engagement initiatives including the BIG Spring Clean, Adopt A Spot, marine litter surveys and corporate volunteering opportunities. KNIB works collaboratively with partners to develop bespoke social value packages aligned to contract requirements, delivering measurable environmental, health and wellbeing outcomes while supporting cleaner neighbourhoods, healthier ecosystems and more resilient communities. |
