Profile: |
HURT (Have Your Tomorrows) is an addiction charity which celebrated its 21st anniversary in October 2022. The charity was founded by local woman Sadie O Reilly after the death of her only son Tony in 1999 as a result of an accidental heroin overdose. After being unable to source help for her son to access a treatment programme, Sadie was determined that no other family would have to endure the pain of losing a loved one to substance misuse. Funding the charity primarily through her own resources Sadie secured a small grant and with the help of two volunteers established the support group initially as a family support organisation to offer a Listening Ear. Some 22 + years later HURT employs 10 staff, with a further 7 sessional workers providing counselling and therapeutic interventions. Since the charity was founded over 5,000 service users and family members have accessed support to address addiction issues. All services we provide are free. We get zero public funding, NHS or government funding. HURT is a voluntary organisation which supports individuals and their families with drug and alcohol problems.
