Profile:

Registered charity (NIC103325) & Co Ltd by guarantee (NI027577) working to prevent & alleviate homelessness in Northern Ireland since 1983. We have 40 members in the independent homelessness sector and work in all communities. 26 staff are supported by 70+ volunteers & a 9-member Board of Directors

We support people with lived experience of homelessness and provide services that directly benefit people and communities; helping to sustain tenancies with Home Starter Packs & diverting surplus food to charities through FareShare. We work with members to identify issues affecting their services and clients and advocate more widely on policy and practice matters relating to homelessness and its prevention. We also work with people with lived experience supporting them to articulate their views to statutory and other services.

Provide training and support to staff in the sector including through the Frontline Network, which we run here. It operates across the UK supporting frontline staff, amplifying their voices and highlighting best practice in the sector.

We distributed 3588 Home Starter Packs to people/households moving from homelessness into social housing in 23/24 and 2188 Getting Started Boxes – including food and hygiene items.

We redistributed 700 tonnes of surplus food to 172 not for profit groups and charities in NI in 23/24, enabling more than 1.7million meals to be provided to 20,000 people and making a positive contribution to the environment.
