Doury Road Development Group

The Doury Road Development Group has been operating for over 10 years providing social, economic and environmental improvements to the Doury Road and wider area. We have been actively involved in lobbying various government departments and other organisations for improvements to infrastructure, housing and services.
The Doury Road is a thriving and diverse community. Having suffered from neglect for many years we are delighted that the estate is on a path to recovery.
Whilst the population grows, the same cannot be said of services and economic opportunities within the area. 61% of our population are of working age but 40% remain economically inactive, whilst 50% have no or low-level qualifications.
The scale of the challenge which we face as a charity is well understood, having been recognised in the Building Successful Communities Programme. We have seen many positive changes and now face different challenges including a growing and ageing population.
We believe we must use our local knowledge and resources to help more people by providing the facilities, support and guidance they need, but we can’t do everything ourselves. We will continue to work in partnership across the area and the many other bodies which play a part in developing and support for the local community.
We intend to build on the services we currently provide, work with agencies to secure long term housing solutions within the estate and engage more people from the area in the work of the charity.
