The Donegall Pass Community Forum focuses on restoration and regeneration of the area’s Environmental, Social and Economic improvements. The renewal aims to transform obsolete or blighted areas into economically productive areas of a community.

Prioritising health and wellbeing
During bouts of social distancing, architecture has placed greater importance on design to protect the health and wellbeing of occupants, from pandemic-friendly social spaces to green hospitals, schools and offices. As we move past the pandemic, health and wellbeing could remain a priority in the future development of mixed-use spaces:
1. increase the number of businesses and employment in an area. This will include commercial development, enhanced transport links, and high-quality housing to attract people to live and work in a region.
2. improve community life by enhancing access to healthcare and education. It can also involve the improvement of arts and cultural spots in a region such as museums.
3. improve the local environment in an area. This can be through protecting green belts, renewing derelict land, improving walking or cycling routes, and providing new green spaces in urban environments.

A related challenge for regeneration of the area are designs that support mental health and wellbeing, maintain social connectedness and address our relationships with your neighbours, including how we foster neighbourliness.
