Buy Social Contractors and Brokers working together to support employment

Fox Building & Engineering Ltd are the main contractor working on the Strule Shared Campus being built in Omagh. Fox’s Social Impact Manager met with Disability Action's Tommy Cairns to explore the potential of working together with a view to providing an employment opportunity.

Working in partnership with Disability Action, Fox Building & Engineering Ltd. has secured part time employment for a young man, Sean, in their Health & Safety department.  Sean is responsible for producing induction packs, managing the PPE stock and other general supporting administrative duties.  Sean is supported by Fox’s Health & Safety Administrator.

Sean has told Fox’s that this employment opportunity has been great for him.  He is really enjoying his work and is very happy in his work environment.

Sean will also be taken part in some courses one being a Manual Handling course hosted by CITB at the Strathroy Link Road project.  He will be accompanied by the Health & Safety Administrator.

Laura Loane, Supported Employment Officer, Disability Action, said:

This is a fantastic opportunity for this young man. We are delighted that Fox Contracts have engaged with us and provided a life changing experience for Sean.

Brigid McGuigan states:

This is community engagement at it’s best.  Reaching out to those furthest removed from the labour market and creating a real and meaningful job opportunity that can change a life. Sean is adding value to our Health & Safety department and making a genuine contribution to the department.

Sean started under the Job Match Programme and has now progressed to the Workable Programme which is career progression.  This means that Sean has a permanent contract with Fox’s Building & Engineering.
