Event management company MayWe is partnering with Belfast Metropolitan College to deliver social value through the management of Belfast City Council’s 2 Royal Avenue venue.
Belfast Met students complete event management work placement opportunities at the city centre venue.
Cate Murdock is a lecturer and Course Coordinator of the Foundation Degree and Level 3 Event Management course at Belfast Met. She said:
“Belfast Met have enjoyed working in partnership with MayWe for several years. The team are extremely responsive in providing industry knowledge as guest speakers and in an advisory role to support the delivery of Event Management courses at Belfast Met.”
“Further to this MayWe invest significantly in the development of future event industry talent via work-based learning placements. MayWe annually offer a 400-hour work-based learning placement to year two Foundation Degree Event Management students. The team mentor and develop the student equipping them with industry experience across a diverse range of events. Students have feedback that this experience has been invaluable in equipping them with the skills and confidence to enter employment within the industry,” she continued.
Lois Kennedy Joint Managing Director of MayWe Events said:
“We are delighted to work with Belfast Met and provide this placement for event and venue managers of the future. Having experienced the benefits of placements as a student I know how important they are for shaping career paths and opportunities.”
“We love being part of the student’s journey and have a great relationship with the Belfast Met team and always look forward to working with them and offering whatever support we can,” she said.
